Kaman Auctions Annual Fundraiser for Edmonds Boys & Girls Club

Local women-owned business holds 4th annual community-supported fundraising auction as a core value and business philosophy to give back to the community that supports their business.

Edmonds, Wash. – January 26, 2017 –Kaman Auctions, owned by two sisters, presented a $12,600 check to the Unit Director of the Edmonds Boys & Girls Club, Brandie Lovelace. The donation was made to the local chapter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a movement that includes over 1,140 independent and national organizations.  The funds will be used for various programs and athletics that encourage “friendship, skill development, self-discipline, and respect for self, others, staff and equipment” (BGCSC, 2012).

This, the fourth annual charity auction for Kaman Auctions, brought out participants on November 22, 2016 to bid on over 90 items such as a Schwinn Roadster Tricycle and vacation getaways to Tulalip Resort Casino and week long trips at RCI properties and Wyndham Plus Resorts. “One of our goals when we started this business was to be a contributor to the local community. The auction format was a natural choice for a fundraiser since this is what we do every week and it brought the community, our customers, friends and family together for fun and a worthwhile cause” remarked Lynn Kamacho, owner. The company’s charity auctions have grown since their first auction that raised $3600 in 2013.

“We chose the Edmonds Boys & Girls Club because kids are our future and they really are the ones who will make our country great again.  They all deserve an opportunity to thrive and be the best that they can be--”, remarked Marci Norman, owner. The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America is “to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens” (BGCSC, 2012). The Edmonds Club was established in 1968 and supports three locations with before and after school programs for ages 5 through 18 (BGCSC, 2012).

Kaman Auctions Fundraiser for Edmonds Boys & Girls Club

Women-owned business supports local organization for today’s youth during 1st anniversary
of car auction business

(Edmonds, WA )  December 1, 2013 – Kaman Auctions, a wholesale auto auction business, owned and operated by two local sisters, helped raise $3,600 to benefit the Edmonds Boys & Girls Club.

On November 14, 2013, in celebration of Kaman Auctions’ one year anniversary as an auto auction, Lynn Kamacho and sister, Marci Norman, decided to give back to the community that has supported their business since its inception. Local and regional car dealerships and members of the community have helped the two sisters build a growing business that allows car dealers to buy vehicles that meet their individual business needs and sell the inventory that may not be a good match for their product line or location.

The auction company partnered with local businesses to host a ‘live’ charity auction from its location at 23110-B Highway 99 in Edmonds, Washington to raise both awareness and money to benefit the children who participate in the Edmonds Boys & Girls Club programs.  Lynn and her husband, Greg, raised two boys now in college, both of whom benefited from many years of participation with the Edmonds Boys & Girls Club.  Lynn was pleased and honored to assist the organization with its mission - “to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens”.

Auctioneer, Tom Pasma, built fantastic energy amongst the many car dealers, local business people, family and friends attending the auction.  He maintained a fun, interactive and engaging environment that encouraged bidding on the many products and services generously donated for this special event.  His personable style ensured maximum value was realized for each item.

“The charity auction was a huge success due to the generous support of our donors who provided all the fabulous items for this event,” said Lynn Kamacho, co-owner of the auction house.  “We were blessed by the outpouring of generosity from our customers and the local business community that helped raise $3,600 for the Edmonds Boys & Girls Club scholarship programs,” added her sister and co-owner Marci Norman.

Over 20 local businesses, retailers and area car dealerships donated items for the auction, which included: an evening getaway to the Tulalip Resort Casino from Credit Concepts Inc., one night at Hood River Lodge with white water rafting in Oregon from Shepard & Shepard Insurance, a fishing trip on the Skagit River with Tom Pasma-auctioneer, a Mercedes-Benz child’s pedal car from Mercedes-Benz of Lynnwood, Home Depot gift card from NextGear Capital, five document fees from Credit Concepts Inc., a Cadillac Callaway golf bag from Doug’s Northwest Cadillac,  a 20-mile tow from Freeman Towing, an alignment and tire rotation from Les Schwab, inspection and oil change services from Campbell Nelson, Clyde Revord, Del Sol Auto Sales and Shoreline Family Auto Sales and Care, and several auto detailing packages from Seaview Auto Center , Chuck Olson, Campbell Nelson, Clyde Revord, Dwayne Lane’s and Waterleak Techniques.  In addition, numerous gift certificates were donated from Here and There (food truck), PieZano’s Pizza, Taki Tiki Bar & Grill, ABCO Locksmith and Millers Rent-All, plus an autographed jersey from baseball legend Tommy John (donated by Tom Pasma-auctioneer), an autographed basketball from Seattle icon, Nate McMillan (donated by Car Finders of Edmonds) and a wine package from Mill Town Credit Union.
